Life and Pensions make a difference
24 employees went the extra mile on Saturday 12 March, volunteering their time to support volunteering partner ALONE to help renovate the homes of vulnerable elderly people living in the community.
Irish charity ALONE provides supportive housing, support coordination, befriending and campaigns for change to hundreds of older people every week, who are homeless, socially isolated, living in deprivation or in crisis.
The volunteering day began bright and early with volunteers working to clear out the furniture from the homes so that they could paint them, before moving on to the gardens and sheds. By the end of the day, the team had managed to inject some TLC into four homes, fill two separate skips of waste and have some fun whilst helping a great cause.
Sean Holland, Managing Director, took part in the event as chair of the local Capita in the Community committee and expressed his gratitude to the volunteers for all of their efforts; “It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we made a real difference to real people in our community by coming together as a team and I’m proud of what we achieved. I’m very thankful to everyone who took part and volunteered their time to support ALONE with this important project. Well done to all involved.”
